Maruti Suzuki Breaks All Records with Historic April 2026 Sales

India’s largest carmaker has kicked off the new financial year with an extraordinary bang. Maruti Suzuki India Limited has started the 2026-27 financial year by shattering previous records, posting its highest-ever monthly sales volume.

Maruti Suzuki India reported its highest-ever monthly sales in April 2026, selling a total of 239,646 units. The record performance was driven by its best-ever domestic sales of 191,122 units and strong exports of 40,054 units.

This represents a massive jump compared to the same period last year. The automotive giant sold a total of 239,646 units in April 2026, marking a significant leap from the 179,791 units sold during the same month last year.

Domestic Market Hits All-Time High

Maruti Suzuki’s total domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 187,704 units, a sharp increase from 138,704 units in April 2025.

Passenger cars led the charge. The Mini segment (Alto, S-Presso) experienced a dramatic resurgence, more than doubling to 16,066 units. The Compact and Mid-Size segment (including popular models like Baleno, Swift, and Dzire) remained the volume driver with 80,659 units sold.

The SUV wave showed no signs of slowing. Utility vehicles, including models like Brezza and Grand Vitara, contributed to the sales with 77,892 units, compared to 59,022 units in April 2025.

The van segment, represented by the Eeco model, saw sales of 13,087 units, rising from 11,438 units in the previous year.

Exports Surge Strongly

Export sales showed a significant increase, with 40,054 units sold compared to 27,911 units in April 2025. The global footprint of the brand continues to widen rapidly beyond Indian shores.

Sales to other OEMs were slightly down from 9,827 units in April 2025 to 8,470 units this year. However, total domestic sales including OEM stood at 199,592 units, up from 151,880 units last year.

Commercial Vehicles Hold Steady

In the light commercial vehicles (LCV) category, the Super Carry model recorded sales of 3,418 units slightly up from 3,349 units in April 2025.

FY26 Momentum Carries Forward

Maruti Suzuki had reported its highest-ever annual sales, revenue and profit for the financial year ended March 31 2026, while announcing a final dividend of Rs 140 per share. Total revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,743,695 million for FY26, registering a growth of about 20.2 per cent over the previous fiscal.

This record-breaking start to the fiscal year underscores Maruti Suzuki’s dominant market position and its successful navigation of diverse consumer segments, from entry-level hatchbacks to premium utility vehicles and electric offerings.

The broader Indian auto sector is also firing on all cylinders. The Indian auto sector made an excellent beginning to their fiscal year FY27, as figures of April 2026 showed robust growth in sales not only for passenger cars and utility vehicles but also for some commercial vehicles.
