The Accord and Civic lead on paper. The 2025 Honda Civic Hatchback and Accord both achieved the pinnacle TSP+ rating from IIHS, earning top “Good” scores in both the small overlap front crash test and the updated side crash test, which involves 82% more crash energy than the original.
The CR-V is still excellent — just not the best. The 2025 Honda CR-V earned a Top Safety Pick (TSP) from IIHS, but fell short of the TSP+ that some rivals achieved — including its smaller sibling, the Honda HR-V.
All three share the same core safety suite. Honda Sensing® is standard on every new Honda model, covering Collision Mitigation Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
For 2026, ratings shifted slightly. In the 2026 ratings cycle, the Accord and Civic Hatchback earned TSP (not TSP+), while all four rated Honda models still achieved top “Good” scores across the small overlap front, updated moderate overlap front, and updated side crash tests.
In short: you can’t go badly wrong with any of these three — but if the top IIHS rating matters most, the Accord has been the most consistently decorated of the trio.
